Complex Brick Detailing Delivered for Eight80 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn

IG Masonry Support has completed a major supply package for Eight80 Atlantic Avenue, a 19-story, 258-unit residential development in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, delivering stainless steel masonry support, construction accessories, and prefabricated brick slip systems to help realize one of the borough’s most intricate brick façades.

Designed by Isaac & Stern Architects, the building’s façade combines detailed brick masonry with expansive glazing to create a distinctive architectural statement. IG Masonry Support was brought onto the project by general contractor JEM Contracting Corp., building on the strength of previous collaborations between the two companies.

The scope of work centered on two of the façade’s most technically demanding features: sloped brick soffits at ground level and an intricate banding detail repeated across every floor above.

At street level, sloped half-lap brick soffits taper at a 16-degree angle above each opening, with the most complex conditions occurring at the corners, where soffits meet at mitered junctions further complicated by the building’s structural piers. Above the ground floor, a stepped brick banding detail repeats across the full height of the building, requiring careful coordination between projecting and recessed brickwork to maintain a consistent, seamless appearance.

To achieve this, IG Masonry Support combined its Welded Masonry Support (WMS) and B.O.S.S.® (Brick on Soffit System) products into coordinated assemblies engineered specifically for the project’s geometry, including custom angled carriers and multi-shelf brackets. Bricks for the soffit returns and mitered corners were precision-cut by IG’s in-house brick cutting team to maintain coursing continuity throughout.

Much of the construction took place during the winter months, adding scheduling pressure to an already complex program. Because IG’s systems are prefabricated off-site under factory-controlled conditions, the approach helped remove weather-dependent, hand-laid brickwork from the critical path, keeping the project on schedule despite the season.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Isaac & Stern Architects described the process of working with IG Masonry Support as professional and efficient, while JEM Contracting Corp. credited the products with making a highly complex build achievable and helping preserve the architect’s original design intent.

The completion of Eight80 Atlantic Avenue reinforces IG Masonry Support’s growing track record on complex, architecturally ambitious projects across the New York area, and its ongoing commitment to supporting contractors and architects with expert technical guidance and high-quality prefabricated solutions.

IG Masonry Support Heads to Zak World of Facades Toronto

IG Masonry Support is heading to Zak World of Facades on October 8, 2026, at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.

This will mark the event’s 231st edition globally and its 4th edition in Toronto, showcasing sustainable innovations and challenges facing the construction industry as they relate to the building envelope, while also featuring the latest technological solutions. The event brings together facade professionals to explore innovation, sustainability, and regulatory developments in the built environment.

Our President, Owen Coyle, will deliver a presentation, building on a similar talk given by our Chief Commercial Officer, Sean Og Coyle, at last year’s Zak World of Facades USA event in New York, where he shared insights on the future of masonry support systems and facade engineering. Owen will delve into our next-generation stainless steel masonry support systems and our innovative, prefabricated brick slip soffit systems for realizing intricate brick features, while also looking at case studies of projects recently completed in Toronto and the surrounding areas.

A full program and event registration is now available. Register on the Zak World of Facades website.
